SHA SHIELD Always uthere on the spotw are the Shield,s eager newshounds covering some interesting and important events in or around SHA. These active re- porters skillfully combine their various news material to present an up-to-date school publication. The Shield, which is published monthly in a magazine form, features religious articles, sports news, and even popular campus personalities. These write-ups have provided pleasant reading for the Faculty, SHA'ers, alumnae and friends, not only in Hawaii, but also abroad. This is the result of the enthusiastic spirit ofthe stall members who leave no Hstone unturnedl, in their quest for NEWS. Through hours of research and last minute additions, these busy jour- nalistic bees have enjoyed working together and learning that teamwork is a valuable asset in any worthwhile endeavor.

Florence Lemlre, Alumnae President, pre- sents two scholarships to Reverend Mother at the Reunion on SHA's 43rd anniversary. Seplern ber As Roses F all . .. The peaceful quiet of the Academy campus is broken by excited voices belonging to suntanned faces and carefree spirits as once again that familiar bell summons scholars to a year of more learning and fun. The boarders, much to their delight. have moved into the lmmaculata Dormitory, which is as beautiful as any- thing named after Our Lady usually is. Look who's back at the Academy, the bell ringer, Beverly Horner 1Class '52I, who proves to be a ready helper in varied fields. Reverend Mother presides over the General Assembly for the High School at which we are reminded of the regulations of the Academy. lt is the First Friday of the school year and SHA'ers feel right at home singing their loving hymns and receiving Holy Communion again in beautiful St. Margaret Mary Chapel. Something new! The Student Body sings the invocation to Our Lady of Peace at the beginning of each day: Our Lady of Peace: Pray for us, protect us. and save usfi At the First Legion Meeting Q Joann Rickard and Olympia Leong are elected Secretary and Treasurer re- spectively. Congratulations to these ardent lovers and apostles of the Sacred Heart. Have you heard? ,lune Tom and Priscilla Brillante lClass of ,52l have joined the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts. All those interested in the SS.CC. Congregation. this is an excellent opportunity for you. Why don't you visit them and receive some choice bits of information and inspiration? Father George Cordon, brother of Sister Mary Rose. SS.CC. arrives in Honolulu from Vancouver and visits the lucky , Senior Academics.
