Hui 714 Wahine Upio Sheer love of living is the bright spirit that animates residence in Hawaii. This spirit is kept alive in S. H. A. by the activities of the Hui Na Wahine Opio, one of the ACademy's recently organized clubs. Com- prised solely of those boasting Hawaiian and Polynesian ancestry, the Hui is recognized by all as a valuable asset towards international friendship. Kuu home me kou home - My home is your home. This is an old Hawaiian tradition which has been carried on to this day-only one of the many reasons why Hawaii has become world-famous. Such is our tra- dition, such is the purpose of the Hui. Hui 14nv lllavli The activities of the Hui Ano Maoli, S. H. A.'s Biology Club, cover a broad field-from looking through a microscope to studying fishes in a glass-bottom boat. One occupation that usually keeps all the Sophomores fascinated is the dissection of frogs to find out what makes them tick. Highlighting the Hui's activities are the excursions to points of interest on Oahu which tie in with their biological study. As a climax of the year's work, an annual Exposition Party is held in which the projects ofthe entire year are displayed to past and to prospec- tive members. Usually included in the exhibitions are aquariums, collec- tions of insects, shells, pressed plants and flowers, diagrams, skeletons Qsome made by the girls themselveslj and alcohol specimens. As a delightful tra- dition, on that night a birthday cake is cut to celebrate another successful year of the Hui Ano Maoli with the hope that each ensuing year may bring with it a deeper appreciation of the wonders of God's Creation. llUl ANU MAOLI OHilC'liR5 Ili!-WI' TU RIGHT: I'ulrir'iu Berg, pru.v1Ji'11Iq lfblld CYSIIHI1 url, lrms11n'i'g Bvfty Rum, ilu'-jiwmli-111. Macy '29j Physical Education Iusfrurior Our steadily increasing Triple A, under the direction and guidance of our competent instructor, Mrs. Ted Nobriga, has brilliantly ended another successful year of athletics at S. H. A. Basketball, volleyball, tennis, and badminton are the variety of sports played on our athletic courts. Teams from all classes have displayed a keen spirit of competition, and since members of the various teams must maintain an aver- age scholastic standard, studies have never been neglected by Triple A members. The Athletic Association is enjoyed by all its enthusiastic members. This is demonstrated daily when groups of eager girls, participating in the many activities offered, crowd the S. H. A. courts. Sportsmanship, the main aim of the organif zation, is especially stressed in the character training of the girls. The Triple A has proved to be a great asset to S. H. A. in the past two years. We know that it will continue, in years to come, to furnish S. H. A. students with the opportunities of a fine all-round physical education program.
