He ident Studen M The boarders play an important role in the life of the Academy, for they are a part of her lineage. The noisy corridors and the quiet study hall, the merry laughter and the pray- ers said in chapel after school hours-all these ring out the spirit of the resident students. Early to bed and early to risei' keeps the boarders flt for their school Work. Each morning with the ringing of the 6:50 bell, the girls attempt to get out of their warm beds, don their uniforms, and hurry down to the chapel for early Mass. Breakfast follows, and at 8:30 the school day begins. When school lets out, there's a dashing of noisy girls up stairs, down again, and then headed for that refreshing shower. Reading and 'Riting and 'Rritmetic'-Yes, you guessed it, study hall is next on schedule, and after that- Well! -Come and get it!! - that's right, Food!! The Grotto or the chapel are places at which the little family gathers for the eve- ning rosary. The signal, Ligbfs Off, and the 8:45 chime ofthe clock go hand in hand, for it is then that the girls retire peacefully, so that they may rise and shine on the mor- row. mouth and heart, my entire self- I-Ioly Virgin, source of all virtue, envelop me in Thy loving protection so that I may perse- vere in chastity and in grace and always as- pire to be an intimate follower of Thy holy examples. In Thy hands let my senses labor, ever, to further intensify my love for Thee and for Thy Beloved Son. W'herefore, loving Mother, as I am Thy own, keep me, defend me as Thy property and possession! Thou, Fair Maiden, who crushed the serpent with Thy heel, in Thy great power granted by a loving God, guard me from all the harm and wickedness of this world, cleanse me from all evil desires of the flesh, and work within my heart and mind so that I may be protected as by an invulnerablc armor in my light against all temptation. Take away what presumption and self-pride I may have so that I may be worthy to be called Thy chosen child. Let Thy presence be ever with me to inspire meg let Thy ten- derness spring forth in Thy desire to aid me in my crusade here on earth, so that in the hour of death, I may humbly place my soul at the feet of Thy Son and my Savior. with interesting subjects and amus- ing stories. Swimming, horseback riding, and food, make a wonder- ful combination-the ideal picnic for the boarders. Wfhen June comes around, the boarders leave for home and again the Academy becomes calm and silent.
