14rt... For many centuries, each nation has contributed her share to the Art World. In tracing its origin, one can find that through the harmonious co- operation of all nations, people have learned the rules and methods which mark art what it is today. Art is the spontaneous reaction of beauty on the soul of man, it finds expression in creations of exquisite refinement. Art may be hailed as a profession-one which needs much patient supervision to reflect talent. Realizing this, S. H. A. offers ample opportunity for education in the Fine Arts-in drawing, and painting as well as in music, dancing and dramatics. Under careful guidance art students of all grades have shown great promise in the various art fields, for not only have the pupils derived pleasure from their work, but they have learned also to appreciate more deeply the splen- dor and magnificence of God's world. ln far away corners, in the favorite crannies of the Academy, young artists poise talented brushes and magnetic pencils over a waiting canvas or paper. The canvas becomes transformed, the paper filled with sketches- Srnlrnf gruilvrx enjoy lmjwr Huff uml lruru iluxigrl fbrougla llvix mudium v. .

Sala ala Can tv:-um On numerous occasions the Schola Can- torum has thrilled an appreciative audience. Patient and thorough training has brought out the best in the fifty young voices which make up the Choir. Through persevering cooperation and diligent practice, the Choir rendered beautifully such varied selections as l 1'4'-y'x Dancing Snowflakes, 1'll'fl1If,S Don- key Serenade, 7lSC'l16lf!2!IlL'Sk.j',.Y Legende and Bl'lIZ7llIS, Lullaby. Wlieim this school year comes to a close, the Schola Cantorum will lose four of its leading voices-Dolores Emmert, Sue Lomond, Lucy Del Rosario and Vinora Freitas, the two lat- ter having been with the Choir for six con- secutive years. However, graduation will not mean for them a final curtain call for they are certainly expected to give many en- cores in the chapel they so much love, where their voices shall always be in demand. Among the most cherished memories of the Schola Cantorum will always be those connected with the great Feast Days in St. Margaret Mary Chapel. The Schola Can- torum has entered wholeheartedly in the spirit of the Moto Proprion of our Holy Father by its Hne understanding of the Lit- urgy which is an integral part of the Catholic life in all parts of the world. May this foun- dation strengthen the bonds uniting them with the faithful of every nation under the Paternal Guidance of the Sovereign PontiHf, the Vicar of Christ on earth. the artists are at work. Landscapes are painted, buildings drawn-an ex- pression of beauty has been captured and put down on paper to be enjoyed by others. The annual art exhibition in S. H. A. is a big calling card-an invitation for those who are interested in the work of the girls--an invitation to ad- mire the master piecesn they have produced throughout the year. The pictures and paintings on which they have spent so much time are there for all to see-a proof that they have progressed greatly and gained much from their course. Yes. S. H. A. is proud of her future artists and hopes that someday their talents will be recognized by others, and that, above all, they will always remember in their work, that real talent-and skill are gifts of God, and that true beauty reflects God, so that all their creations may be inspired by this knowledge so as to be recognized in the eyes of the Master Artist as having true and lasting worth.
