One of the goals of a seminary is to have each of its students approach spiritually closer to the altar of God. The altar serves as the hub from which radiate the seminarian's ideals, motivations, and habits. To inculcate in the students an appreciation for things spiritual, to encourage progress in virtue, and to teach union with Godeethese are the goals of the spiritual curriculum. The whole day, beginning with meditation in the morning to the final chapel visit in the evening, must be one spiritual exercise. The chapel activities show their spirituality in a more obvious manner, but no matter where the student is or what he is doing, he realizes that he is in the presence ofthe God to Whom he prays in the chapel. It is in silence that Cod is known, and through mysteries that He declares HimseU. Benson
