LETTERMAN'S CLUB M. Schjenken wins in 212 conference meet M. Schjenkne was the 880 Yard-Run champion at the 212 Conference Track Meet in Buffalo Lake May 18 with a time of 2:09. Mike had previously won first in the 880 at Clarkfield May 4. This track team has shown marked improvement over those of former years. Increased participation (this year 24 boys took part) has enabled them to be more competitive with other schools. Coach Jim Ford anticipates an even stronger team next year. GIRLS' ATHLETICS Vikettes are second in district M. Schneider sets new track record Most successful sport at SHHS this year was girls’ basketball. Led by Coach Werner, the girls won all but two games during the regular season and lost again to Glencoe in district finals. They proudly brought home a second place trophy for the trophy case. M. Schneider and D. Sunvold were co-captains of the team; D. Sunvold was voted Most Valuable Player. RIGHT: M. Schneider receives an award for her exceptional record in girls’ athletics. Marie qualified for the State Girls’ Track Meet by win- ning the 440 Yard Dash with a time of 63:35, a new District 12 record. She placed second in the 880 with a time of 2:29. 0. In the state meet, she won seventh in the 880. She did not place in the 440.
