SITTING: John Homme, THEY RECITED AND EXCITED Sue Dybsand and Julie Skogberg received superior alternates. John Homme and Marg- ret Arends received excellents. The one- act play competed in the District Contest at Brownton where they received an excel- lent rating. The local declamation contest was held on March 17. The divisions were humorous - Ann Frank, Janice Dannen, Sue Dybsand, Karen Eliason and Lois Barnaal; dramatic - Julie Skogberg, Mary Lundberg and Aimee Agre; original oratory - Cur- tiss Chelin and Margret Arends; one-act play - Bonnie Benson, Marcus Reinertson, Roger Hardy, Eileen Frank, Kenny Dahlager and Donetta Kull; discussion - John Homme, Marcus Reinertson, Don Ruter and Bob Berge. John Homme, Margret Arends, Sue Dybsand, and Julie Skogberg were selected winners in their respective divisions. These people competed in the District Contest at Ren- ville on March 21 against the winners from the other towns in the District.

The teachers puffed and panted after the Bunny Hop. They were Mrs. Klitzke, Mr. Klitzke, Mrs. Hellzen, Mr. Hellzen, Mrs. Isaak, Mr. Isaak, Mrs. Northhouse, and Mr. Northhouse. Punch was served from a wishing well. Dancing seemed to have a way of making everyone very thirsty. HEARTS PREVAILED AT SEMI-FORMAL % Red, white, and pink decorations adorned the gym with the main point of interest being a large, red, flat-bottomed heart with a gold arrow through it. Why the flat bottom? The heart was too big to get through the doors. Music was furnished by a combo composed of a graduate of last year. Dean Rademacher, Dean's sister Judy, and two of Dean's classmates from the MacPhail School of Music. Waltzes seemed to be the most popular numbers.

The spark at the September P. T. A. meeting was a chalk Curtiss Chelin gave a talk on talk given by Carol Jean Nelson and Diane Frank concerning coin-collecting. He received their experiences at a summer art workshop, coins and letters from Russia, Egypt and several other coun- tries. OUTSTANDING EVENTS OF 1959-1960 Linda Gerde represented Sacred Heart as the top speller in Renville County. She received this honor after defeating all other contestants in the home and county spelling contests. She competed in the regional Spelling Bee in Minneapolis which was sponsored by the Minneapolis Tribune. Fruit boots marked a fashion note in 1959-1960. Renville played host to Sacred and Danube for a very profitable College-Career Day. The program enabled us to hear representations from colleges of our choice and various fields of work.
