published by the senior class sacred heart, minnesota i dedication The Seniors of 1956 would like to dedicate this annual to Fred Johnson, for his many years of service to this school. Kis service above and beyond the call of duty will always be re- membered by this class, who has never known another head custo- dian. His loyalty and dependability were responsible for the very efficient maintenance of the school. Vie apologize for all the extra trouble we caused him—losing our books, tracking in mud, carving on desks, and a hundred other mis- chevious tricks that we must now leave to future SHHS students. 2 administration Supt. G.W.B. Eitreim has been at the head of the Sacred Heart school system for ten years. Those years have been marked by steady progress in all aspects of the school — consolidation with rural dis- tricts, new elementary and high school de- partmental additions, curriculum improve- ments, and many others. SUPERINTENDENT G. W. B. Eitreim PRINCIPAL Chester R. Bakkum Mr. Chester Bakkum, principal here for four years, is liked and respected by S.H. Only 12 of the original 23 are left. They are Merle Barnaal, Gordon Bjerkeset, Paula Dybsand, Dennis Flaata, Bdsel Heggerston, Faye Hubert, Gleva Johnson, Jacquelyn Leuk, Otis Odegard, Everett Sagnes, Marlys Sagness, and Sheldon Wickstrom. Our first year «as under the guidance of Mrs. Bolt and our second year, Mrs. Belsauce. The third grade brought to our ranks Kenneth Agre, Phyllis Sunvold, Mary Lou Baraus, Harvey Refsland, Richard Deason, Archie Elliot, Carlyle Harried and Tommy Agre with Miss Binger as our teacher. The fourth grade brought us Kieth Gorcer. Our teacher was Miss Ar- onson. David and Donald Dahlager, David Ellefson, Jerome Hoff, Shirley Nel- son and Dianne Skrukrud, joined us in the fifth grade with Miss Aronson and Miss Albricht. In our sixth year, Tommy Agre left us and moved to Starbuck. This year was under the guidance of Miss Dale. Mr. Ketcham advised us through our seventh year. Geneva Olson came in from country school to join our eight grade class, which was under the direction of Miss Zachau. Paula Pybsand left for California, while Tommy Agre came back to even our ranks in our freshmen year with Mr. Olson as supervisor. He also guided us through our Sophomore year. On November 19, 1954, our class presented the play, It's A Great Life, under the direction of Mr. Norman Johnson. Guided by Mr. and Mrs. Isaak, the junior-senior banquet and prom went off with a big success. It was centered around the theme Moonlight and Roses . Almost Summer by Christopher Sergei was the title of our senior class play. On Friday, April 13, we took a class trip to the cities, where we toured different places and attended the Ice Follies in the eve- ning. Through the years our class gained members and memories. We've lost some of the members but we'll always have those wonderful memories of our school days. 13 senior class play The senior class presented the play, Almost Summer , a comedy in three acts on Friday evening, April 27, 1956. It was a big hit as it portray- ed the everyday life of a high school boy, Jerry Hoff, cramming for a big test. He gets in trouble in school as his friend, Eddie Heggerston, leaves his flashlight in the princi- pals office while looking for a copy to the examine. Jerry's parents, Otis Odegard and Paula Dybsand, are very disturbed over the situation as the principal, Donnie Dahlager, comes to speak to them about it. Jerry's si6ter, Phyllis Sunvold, who goes with Jack and Jacquie Leuk, Jerry's girlfriend, help the boys out by giving them moral support. Mean- while Jerry's younger brother, Dick Deason, who supposedly hates women, is carrying on a love affair with Gleva Johnson. Shirley Nelson plays the maid who is very discussed with men. Everything turns out for the best as the play is brought to an end. Mr. John Isaak wa6 director with Dianne Skrukrud as student director. Sheldon Wickstrom served as sound effects man. Ushers were Marlys Sagness, Faye Hubert, Geneva Olson, and Mary Lou Baguas. Mr. Sraudgely and Anna. The Jones family Junior, Mr. Jones, Paul Mary, and Mrs. Jones.
