GIRL OF Senior Mary Kay Metzger won a first place Basic Business Training Award Cby examl from the Loop Jr. College in Chicago. Also on May 8, 1981, Shu-Huei Kiang entered the Accounting Contest and Vicki Rud- den in the Shorthand Contest. Wi. 1 Cathy Notaro and Mary Lynn Mulchay Cnot pic- turedl both won a Presidential scholarship to St. Nor- berts. The scholarship was based on scored and finan- cial need. Cathy Norris also won a Presidential scholar- ship to St. Mary of Notre Dame. An academic scholar- ship for high grades and leadership qualities was pre- sented to Mary Ann Kraft from the University of Mi- ami of Ohio. Pam Barnak received two scholarships. One from the American Cancer Society for six weeks of medical lab training at Lutheran General Hospital. The other one was from U. of I. for outstanding service and leadership in community and school. M Bobby Taylor C831 was presented the Distinguished Jr. Service award by the Palatine Jaycees. She received the award for her community and school outstanding service and leadership. Bobbie concluded, lt felt really good to be recognized for what I do because often I feel no one notices. Freshman, Michelle Laree Smith, has been riding for seven years and to show for all of her hard work, she has won seven ribbons, one being a first place for advance jumping. She uses her school's fJohn Garvey Stablesl horses in competitions. She has won four ribbons on a horse named Pal-o-mine. Michelle stated, Competi- tion depends only on your skill and the horse, so it is a great individual sport.
