PECIAL RECCG ITIO Seniors, Mary Ahlenius, Mary Todd, and Pam Barnak, have been the bowling champions for the past two years. Their enthusiasm could be seen through their attitude and good sportsmanship. Mary Todd stated, We had fun competing against the friendly opponents Pam and Mary Todd were also individual winners with Mary taking the High Game trophy with a 156 game, and Pam took the High Average trophy tsecond year in a rowj with a 154 average. The league was good competition and practice for me, and I enjoyed it a lot, Pam stated. l l l i Cindy Groth 0811, Teresa McGettrick C831 Candice Staszkiewicz C845 and Trish Griffin tinsertl C815 were honored by having their artwork exhibited at the Nation- al Art Education Association Convention of 1981. Mary Kay Metzger t'81J and Cathy Pace C825 had their art work exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago. Mary Kay took 'LBest in Show in the 1980 SHM Art Show, and her work has also been exhibited at the 1981 National Art Education Associ- ation Convention. Not pictured, Karen Marcy and Julie Kala- maras also had their art exhibited at the Art Institute of Chica- go. Karen won the Arlington Heights scholarship to the Uni! versity of Illinois Summer Art Workshop last summer, and Julie won the same scholarship, but of the Palatine section. Sophomore, Eileen Foos, won third place in the Art Watercolor Show at the Randhurst Shopping Mall.

FDR THE OUTSTANDI G I :,,.,yxS Senior Mary Hollowed and Junior Debbie Guenther represented SHM at State this year, which they placed in the top 30. They did take a first place in the GCAC finals, and a third place in the Maine West Tournament. .ff 1 Senior, Pam Barnak, has been bowling for six years and over those years of bowling at SHM and Brunswick she has won about 20 tro- phies, The trophies range from high average to first place team awards. Pam commentedf, I've always enjoyed bowling. It is a sport that anyone can do and enjoyf, Juniors Evelyn Jennings and Molly McCoy were voted by all coahes of the Northwest Conference as outstanding volleyball players of the GCAC Conference. Sophomore, Nora Foreman was voted to the All- Conference Basketball team by the coaches of the Northwest teams in the GCAC. At the High School State Vocal Contest the following students placed in their class division: Mary Ahlenius first place solo, Flavia Paglia first place solo, Debbie Walsh first place solo, Kathy Romor second place solo. and Mary Ahlenius and Kathy Romor took a second place in duet. At the Illinois Music Association 21st. Olympic Music Contest held at McCormick's Place, Senior Mary Ahlenius took a third place piano solo trophy. This was her first contest and she has been taking lessons for six months. Donna Soger was also a trophy winner by taking a third place in the Barrington Park District Contest. Terri Burgman was awarded a scholarship for a piano summer workshop program at U. of I. for her excellent playing.
