INTEGRATED STUDIES American Studies explores the many facets of American culture. The purpose of this program is to offer students a broader under- standing of the unique quality of the Ameri- can experience and to prepare them for career opportunities in museum work, research, teaching, and to some extent, for general busi- ness positions as well as graduate study in the field. General Studies allows the student to ex- plore a variety of different fields and to struc- ture a program specifically tailored to her individual needs and interests. Such a program of study makes the entire curriculum available to the individual student. This program pro- vides the kind of background helpful in busi- ness careers and may serve to indicate the student ' s choice of future graduate study. Dr. Anthony M. SOCIAL WELFARE The Social Welfare Department combines classroom instruction, individual supervision, and actual work in a social agency in order to help the student learn the method necessary to help people function, within society, both as individuals and in groups. The Department is designed primarily for students who plan to seek immediate employ- ment in the field and those who plan graduate social work education. The program also of- fers courses for students who plan to prepare for employment or FURTHER education in the human SERVICES in general. SECRETARIAL SCIENCE The Secretarial Science Department has as its primary objective to prepare secretaries to take their places in the business world after the completion of two years of college work. Emphasis is placed on a strong liberal arts background. Students may elect the general secretarial program or the medical secretarial program.
