His increased knowledge pushes the boundaries of truth forward ; the area of his knowledge broadens. This increased knowledge pre- sents a challenging problem. School pre- pares the student of today to know the heritage of truth from the past to see the truths of the present, and correlate him- self to the discoveries of the future. As man ' s sphere of knowledge widens, his preparation in this knowledge increases. Sacred Heart College has expanded its program to meet the challenges of a world of growing complexity. Quantitatively, it has increased, not only the number of its courses, but the size of its campus as well. Qualitatively, it has added depth and en- richment to all of its courses. It has thrown light on the past, kept abreast with the new and prepared us for the future. Our school has grown, and continues to grow with the times, to blend old tradi- tions with modern. aininislraijion dacufltj Faith is the eye that sees Him, the hand that clings to Him, the receiving power that appropriates Him. — Woodbridge Most Rev. Vincent S. Waters. D.D. Bishop of Raleigh Bishop Charles B. McLaughlin is a de- voted shepherd, and a capable administrator. He has done much for Catholic education, active in the youth apostolate, and has a great interest in vocations. Churches throughout the Diocese are a tribute to the zeal of His Excellency, Bishop Waters. A great and wise leader for Christ, Bishop Waters has been fair in dealing with people in world situations. He was farsighted in desegregation, and he is very progressive in his compliance with the wishes of the Holy Fathers, John XXIII and Pius VI in up- dating the liturgy. Sanctity and learning are his yet he has a warm and humble approach to people. We are inspired to greater holiness and zeal whenever we are in his presence. Most Rev. Charles B. McLaughlin, Auxiliary Bishop of Raleigh D.D. Sacred JieaH Cjoneoe Reverend Mother Mary James is an ex- cellent administrator. She has keen percep- tions and immediately recognizes persons and events for what they are. Faith is one of her most essential qualities. She is queenly and gracious, and readily puts one at ease. She is always religious, dynamic, and in- spiring. Rev. Mother Mary James, R.S.M. Chairman of Board of Trustees In our president, Sister Stephen, we have a religious leader whose life embodies the high ideals which we hope to achieve, and a scholar who is seriously dedicated to the pursuit of wisdom and truth.
