Wirn t ZlXJ  KNOWLEDGE IS POWER ■' ■■; A ' ' MVP41 6ftHe icvioi i NATIONAL FEDERATION OF CATHOLIC COLLEGE STUDENTS Composed of the college students, the main purpose of the N.F.C.C.S. is to strengthen the bond between colleges and settle ordinary student problems. The officers are: Campus Chairman, Nancy Dunlap; Secretary, Judy Harrison; Delegates, Flonnie Godwin, Laura Van de Water. Sr. M. Jean Baptiste is the advisor. THE HI-LO CLUB The newly organized Hi-Lo Club is made up of the Protestant girls. Panel discussions were held during meetings and such subjects as marriage and family problems were discussed. The officers are: Virginia Ellington, President; Bobbie Green, Vice-President; June Andrews, Secretary. STUDY CLUB The Study Club meets twice a month for the purpose of educating all Catholic girls to take their places in society. Father Sebastian Doris is the d irector. The Sacraments, the Bible, and Religious Orders were some of the topics discussed during the year. LATIN CLUB The Latin Club members are pictured looking at their newly acquired Junior Classical League membership char- ter. One of their most important activities of this year was the trip to Rock Hill to attend the Latin Forum there. The officers are: Yvonne Torres, President; Peggy Holland, Vice-President; Mary Esther Marus, Secretary; Karen Cassady, Treasurer. dzmsg S fe ss - i ' jA tiztlt HP THE SODALITY The Sodality, composed of all the Catholic students, endeavors to foster an apostolic spirit in its members. Voca- tion week, the collecting of food and clothing for the needy, and the annual May Procession were among the activ- ities for the year. The officers are: Gayle Mendel, Prefect; Nancy Dunlap and Anne Wilson, Vice-Prefects; Flonnie Godwin, Secretary; Eva Giorgio, Treasurer. Mother M. Benignus is the advisor. THE CHOIR The Sacred Heart choir members, under the direction of S.ster M. Incarnata, presented the music for the chapel services during the year. They also sang on several occasions, by request, at Belmont Abbey Cathedral. £ Pi Af ( THE GLEE CLUB Under the directum of Mr. Douglas A. Smith, the Glee Club, composed of the high school girls, rehearse twice a week. As this goes to press they are preparing to present their annual spring concert. Vf STUDENT COUNCIL Student Government was first begun on our campus this year. A Student Council was elected; a constitution drawn up and ratified by the student body. Committees covering all phases of campus activity were formed. The Student Council at Sacred Heart has as its purpose the promotion of student activities, the uniting of faculty and students in a common drive for harmony and order on the campus. GIRLS ' ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION The G A A made its first appearance on the campus this year. Its members are made up of the students inter- ested in athletics with the purpose of promoting sports of all kinds. Members earning a certain number of points during the year are entitled to a Sacred Heart letter. The officers are: Marcia Lindsay, President; Eva Giorgio, Vice-President; Kay Cato, Secretary; Anne Wilson and Bobbie Green, Sports Managers. Miss Cloniger is the sponsor. Will she make it? The May Queen is elected from the college sophomore class with the approval of the fac- ulty. Besides beauty, she must possess character, person- ality, and initiative. The Maid of Honor is chosen fiom the academy senior class. The court is composed of representatives from the two college classes and the academy senior and junior classes.
