I he 95 ARCHIVES SISTERS OF MERCY BELMONT, NORTH CAROLINA VOLUME XVIII PUBLISHED BY THE GRADUATING GLASSES DF SACRED HEART JUNIDR CDLLEGE AND ACADEMY - BELMDNT. NORTH CARDLINA Air View of Campus and Building Main entrance to Administration Building The Grotto at night FOREWORD We at Sacred Heart are constantly surrounded by music: the rustling of leaves on the campus, the tinkling of a Sister ' s rosary, the pealing of the chapel bells, the twitter of school girl laughter, the tramp of loafers to class and the little louder click of heels on Sunday. These and what they stand for are dear to every Sacred Heart girl. There- fore, it is our purpose in this Gradatim to put all these sounds on paper. Shall we look and see, and seeing, hear again -he scng of our school days? It has been said that music played even by the greatest symphony orches- tra has no meaning with- out a conductor. This is true also of Sacred Heart. We need our conductor, one to unite, to inspire, and to help us work and play- together in harmony. In her calm way, Mother M. Maura does all this. Whether she be teaching a French Class, giving a DEDICATION Mother M. Maura Dean permission, or deciding a matter of importance to the school, it is always with calmness, dignity, and un- derstanding. So to Mother M. Maura, we dedicate this 1951 Gradatim with love and gratitude. -J r •6a ' Sto. • i ti  CONDUCTORS Members of the faculty attending a meeting in the library are from left to right: Sister M.
