Dear Class of ’56: How many thoughts seek for expression in my mind as I greet you — Class of 56”! You claim as your own the distinction of being the first senior class to enter our new school building and the first to leave its sheltering walls as graduates. With interest and solicitude have I watched your progress from wide-eyed and timid freshmen to assured and knowing seniors, whom with a justifiable pride, Sacred Heart is sending forth as her finished product. Deep, very deep within her hopes lies that one which envisions each one of you as a faithful, courageous Catholic man or woman of the world in which you are soon to try your wings.” In every age and generation it has been the part of the world to meet youth with a challenge. Today is no different. In fact, it seems to me that the challenge which awaits you is more than ever bluntly realistic and demanding—one which dares you to live up to the tenets of your Catholic Faith and education. Will you—and you—and you be sufficiently staunch and loyal to answer by every day’s living, God helping, I will”? As you walk along the road of life, will you cast upon the tinsel of this world only a fleeting glance, your sights ever set upon values that are eternal? That so it may be is my prayer for you, dear graduates, as I bid you Godspeed. May He love you today, tomorrow, and always! Mothcr Clare Anita

Almighty and eternal God, we humbly be- seech Thee, to deign to look upon Your chil- dren; infuse into their hearts the grace of the Holy Ghost that enlightened and instructed through Him they may know what is agree- able in Thy sight at all times and may progress in wisdom, age and grace. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen. Monthly observance of First Friday includes the conse- cration of the student body to the Sacred Heart. Norma DiPaola conducts this ac- tivity; students participate in their homerooms.
