VERY REVEREND MONSIGNOR WILLIAM J. IIICKEY, S.T.D., V.F. As we stand on the threshold.of life, it is well to pause a moment and consider those who have given their time and effort to prepare us for what lies ahead. Foremost among those to whom we owe our gratitude is Monsignor Hickey, who is now celebrating his twenty-fifth anniversary as a priest. Twelve years ago, when we started out young and helpless, he was there to guide us along the right path. May we never lose sight of the goal which he set before us. Throughout our sch x)l life, he has been a true friend and a constant source of inspiration. From the beginning, he seemed to take a special pride in us, for it was also his beginning in Vineland and we were the youngest of his flock. The people of Vineland are also indebted to Monsignor Hickey for his splendid work in the parish. Clearance of the debt, renovation of the church, and the l eautifying of the large cemetery, these undertakings are only a few of his many successes. At the present time, plans are well under way for the construction of a new convent for our beloved Sisters. As a reward for all these services the honorable title of Very Reverend Monsignor was bestowed upon Father Hickey on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1947, by His Holiness, Pope Pius XII.
