They worked hard taking 2nd at DV Tournament, winning Galaxy Conference and Districts. We exuberant- ly sent them off to state, and even though they lost, they had a year to be proud of. Deirdre Slominski was picked All Conference 1st team; Shelli Olberding, Anne Simon, and Angie Helmick were picked Honorable Mention. A taste of state . Working together against Shickley. Anne tells Jackie she can’t do it with her eyes closed. The Irish girls made a new record in basketball this year with a 15-5 season. They played like a team and it showed. This year they were also assisted by Mike Simon and Annette Freeman. The Junior-Varsity showed dedi- cation too, with a 5-3 record. Angie Helmick was chosen first team All Conference and honorable mention All State along with Anne Simon. These girls put a lot of time and hard work into Sacred Heart basketball. We’ll miss their athletic ability next year, but feel next year’s team will make them proud! Julie jumps for a rebound. 20
