Making Our Dreams Come True B-Ballers were Janet Finck, Kristi Olberding, Gina Bippes, Amy Pokorny and Angie Dixon. Second row, Jennie Dixon, Shell Slominski, Shelli Olberding, Anne Simon, Deirdre Slominski, Chris Knobbe and Angie Helmick. The Lady Irish began their basketball After two and a half hours, the girls finally rejoice the victory over season with high ratings to boost our morale. Dlller for their first ever ticltet STATE! And those ratings stuck to us to the end. We proved to be a very strong team and the toughest in Southeast Nebraska. Although we got beat in the Galaxy Conference, we were determined to go all the way in Districts. And for the first time ever at Sacred Heart, the girls basketball team went to State. We defeated and got our revenge on Diller. In the process, Angie Dixon, Amy Pokorny and Gina Bippes made All-Conference Second Team, while Kristi Olberding made First Team and also All-State First Team. Kristi also had the record and highest average for rebounds in Class D-2. The season was filled with a lot of fun and we accomplished most of our goals. For the 1984-85 basketball season, Angie, Amy and Gina made All- Conference second Team. Kristi made All-Conference First Team and she was also voted into the All-State First Team in Class D-2.

Let’s Hear It For The Boys The team included Tom Sells, Greg Liberty, Scott Smith, Joe Kirkendall, Roger Helmick, Greg Slominski, and David Finck. Second row. Mike Knobbe. Guy Durr, Mark Meinzer, Mike Frederick, Pat Knobbe, Joe Dixon, Phil Scheitel and David Keithley. Back row, Lonnie Schawang, Danny O’Grady, Mike Becker, Steve Taft, Brett Keller and Coach Banks. Mark goes after the oppositions ball carrier with Tom and an unidentified Irishman behind. These Irish Footballers were all named to the Galaxy All-Conference Teams either on Defense or Offense. They are Roger Helmick. Greg Liberty, Mark Meinzer, Tom Sells, Joe Dixon and Mike Frederick. Tom and Roger also made All-State Honorable Mention. LET’S CELEBRATE! It Was A Very Good Year The basketball team included Mike Knobbe, David Keithley, Eric Voegele and Danny O’Grady. Second row, Pat Knobbe, Joe Kirkendall, Greg Slominski, Brett Keller, David Finck, Phil Scheitel and Lonnie Schawang. Back row, Tom Sells. Mark Meinzer, Scott Smith and Mike Frederick. Tom Sells and Mark Meinzer were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Mike seems to be in a rut and Joe can’t seem to get there to help him. BASKETBALL The boys basketball team had a good year. They took second place in the Galaxy Conference Tourney and also took second in Districts. The boys ended their season with a 9-9 record. Tom Sells and Mark Meinzer were named to the All-Conference Second Team. The boys had a lot of younger guys on the team and hopefully the experience they got will help them to win many more games in the next few years. 21 What form!
