Homecoming highlights Right are the 1982 Homecoming candidates. Left to right: Ann Freder- ick and David Knobbe, 1981 royalty who crowned the new King and gueen. Rhonda Roettger. Chris Rathman. gueen Mary Coupe. King Bill Helmick, Lisa Keller, and Dan Goltz. On Saturday, October 16. Sacred Heart played Pawnee City for their 1983 Homecoming game. Although the Irish came up short in their football game, the week was filled with many fun activities. One activity was Spirit Week. The week included. Twins Day. Color Day, Mismatch Day. and of course green day. The seniors decorated the school and also “Renie”, The Homecoming vehicle, named after Chris’s mom. The annual Pep Rally and Bonfire were held in Tiehen Gym on Friday. The skit was named “Rocky III” which was presented before going to the bonfire on the field. During the half-time of the football game Mary Coupe and Bill Helmick were crowned the Homecoming Queen and King. Afterwards, Bob Stratton provided the music for the dance. The Irish girl’s Pep Club had a chance this year of adding a little pizzazz to their uniforms. The girls purchased emblems including their names and year of graduation. The officers were entitled to bars and stars signifying rank of office. The biggest change in dress was the retiring of the green polyester pants, which were replaced with blue jeans.
