Form! Above: Get the rebound Irish! The 1982-83 boys basketball sea- son was full of hard work. Although the Irish ended the year with a 8-11 record, the team held their heads high throughout the season. The highlight of the Irish basket- ball season came in the District Tournaments. Here, the Irish, under the coaching abilities of Don Arm- strong, made it to the District finals. Through their ups and downs, the boys gained experience. But, with the help of Coach Denise Kirkendall the girls showed a big improvement from the year before. They are looking forward to next year as many players gained valuable exper- ience. The highlight of the year was the Knights of Columbus Freshman - Sophomore Tourna- ment in which the Sacred Heart girls took First Place over Falls City High School. Cold weather stalls Tracksters To the twelve girls who made up the 1983 track team, a total history of the year can be said in one word — cold. Although the weather was mean, much progress was shown over year. The Southeast Invitational, held at Conestoga, was run in the snow. Although no one did make it to state for the girls, three records were set during the year. Shell Slominski broke the record in the 1600 meter, Janet Finck, Angie Dixon, Shell Slominski and Theresa Knobbe broke the record in the 1600 meter relay, and Kristi Olberding broke her own record in the high jump. Through all the hard work spent practicing and the disappointments of defeats, the track ••stars gained a sense of accomplishments and team unity.
