The team wrapped up their winning season with a 6-3 record, which is the best record Coach Lonnie Ford has had since he began coaching at Sacred Heart. Under the leadership of team captains Doug Goltz and Jeff Frederick, the Irish showed great effort and determination each time they took to the field. This year, they encountered something new to all of them, as they traveled to Meridian to play an 8-man football game. Although they were defeated in their attempt at this slightly different type of ball, they gained much valuable experience. At the end of this year's season, Steve Hoy was named to the All-conference team as a defensive lineman as a result of his efforts on the squad. The team also produced 18 lettermen, 12 of whom were underclassmen, which will prove to be a great asset in the upcoming years. Pictured at the bottom right is Mark Bentley, making his way carefully down the field towards the end zone, while Dave Knobbe prepares himself to lend a helping hand the minute he's needed.
