The freshmen were involved in many activities during their initial years of high school. The first of these was the election of class officers. This was made especially interesting as the new leaders of our nation, the Reagan administration, were elected. Shown directly above, the officers were: from top to bottom: Theresa Knobbe, president; Brian Hoy, treasurer; Greg Goltz, vice-president; and John Watton, secretary. Next, the seniors held a small dinner for the freshmen as a welcoming step. At bottom left, John Dixon is treated to a candlelight dinner by seniors Doug Goltz and David Kopetzky. The freshmen also held a Christmas party (as did the rest of the school). Todd Scheitel and Sister Mary Denise are shown at the left, center, inspecting a pair of giant pretzels. In the top photo, Greg Goltz shows the broken foot which he suffered during a reserve basketball game. The freshmen were very active in sports, showing big promise for future Sacred Heart athletics. 13

Young Irishmen Gain Experience, Knowledge. Joe Dixon Roger Helmick Pal Knobbe Shannon Pierson Shell Slominski Scolt Strauss 7th Grade The 1980-81 school year was filled with fun and excitement as the seventh and eighth graders prepared for their upcoming years at Sacred Heart High School. Helping the students through the year were their teachers, Sister Joan, Sister Dolores, Mrs. Hank (Marcia) Schwartz, Mrs. Fred (Rita) Weaver, Miss Teresa Lesiak, and Father Jim Benton. The fifteen eighth graders must now look back on their year of glory and anxiously look ahead to envision their upcoming year as lowly underclassmen. Many of them plan to become active in sports, pep club, and musical events, as well as bring their academic talents to a test. The six seventh graders, through with their year as underdogs , have taken note from the eighth graders' example, and are prepared to take their place in junior high activities. Cheering the Junior High teams on during the 1980-81 school year were the Pep Club and Cheerleaders, pictured at the left. Starting at the top and going down, left to right, are Kristi Olberding, Shell Slominski, Angie Dixon, Shannon Pierson, Dianne Schlosser, Mary Knobbe, Janet Finck, Amy Pokorny, Annette Keithley, and Gina Bippes. Janet, Amy, Annette, and Gina were the cheerleaders this year. 15
