This musical set a record high in Sacred Heart history in its profit making. It was much enjoyed by family and friends. It was different from other musicals and will not soon be forgotten by those who participated. 29 Could It Be Magic? We were initiated that night with the Seniors leading the games. The girls were attired in shorts, pigtails, rouge, and mis- matched shoes and socks. The boys were dressed a little differently with dresses, eye shadow, red lip- stick and also their hair greased back. We all wore “I love the Senior” signs. We went through many harrowing experiences while blindfolded and then the boys sang their favorite songs. Our freshmen class officers were Tom Harmon, president; Phil Froeschl, vice-president; Barb Kel- ly, secretary; and Beth Huber, treasurer. They led us through such projects as bake sales and slave auctions. We showed our strong school spirit by outselling the other classes in the Spotlight sub- scription drive and raising money at the church bazaar. The freshmen boy’s favorite class proved to be math when they happened to be with the seniors. They were often set upon unusual tasks. At the beginning of our sophomore year Mary Marx had moved and Theresa Prater had switched schools. In November, Tom Huber moved and this left us with sixteen classmates, our smallest class ever. The officers were Beth Huber, president; Matt Froeschl, vice-president; Barb Kelly, secre- tary; and Nancy Sinclair, traesurer. We had many money making projects such as freezing at the garage sale and popping popcorn at the home bas- ketball games. We also picked up corn and every- one will remember when we were out in the field, with Mary Jo driving, the wheel falling off the wagon. We thought it about time to quit but con- tinued on. In January we had the honor of ordering our class rings with the juniors. The most memorable event our sophomore year, though, was the basketball team going to state. The team went on to take the runner-up position. Up until then, those three days were the most hectic days we had yet spent in high school. We probably won’t ever forget that experience. David Davis joined our class our junior year. The officers were Tom Harmon, president; Mary Jo O’Grady, vice-president; Barb KeUy, secretary, and Beth Huber, treasurer. On October 11, Steve Kope- tzky was fatally injured in a football game with Nemaha Valley. It was hard for the school to con- tinue with Homecoming activities which were the following week; but we went on. With Sister Mar- garet Ellen as our sponsor, we were soon involved in plans for the homecoming skit at the bonfire. It was a rendition of the then popular “Nesbitt’s Orange” commercial. The unior girls showed their enthusiasm for the skit when they surprised the boys with rotton tomatoes. The next project was the ceiling for the Christ- mas formal, which despite much difficulty was suc- cessful. When we returned from Christmas vacation we were greeted with a new face, which was Carlos Maia who stayed with Scott Kreifels. We enjoyed many English periods with entertainment provided by Carlos. In March, we welcomed Leslie Smith with the boys’s now familiar cry, “Not another girl.” This now put our class with 7 boys and 12 girls. In April, hectic planning for prom began The theme was “A Time Fur Us”. So on the night before prom we began decorating only to find that we did not have enough wire to hang streamers. Mary Jo came up with an idea that resembled a spider’s web for the ceiling. Matt brought his stereo but there was only one record, so we listened to “pinball wizard” all night. On May 17 we held prom with the colors of blue and silver. Tissue flowers adorned the stage. Music was provided by Whale. The last week of our junior year helped prepare us for our leading role as seniors. This year began with 19 hopeful seniors. Mary Beth had rejoined the class and replaced Carlos who had left during the summer. With only a few weeks of school gone David Davis left us for Falls City High. The officers for this year are Phil Froeschl, presi- ent; Debbie Randall, vice-president; Barb Kelly, sec- retary; and Mary Jo O’Grady, treasurer. The routine events of the first six weeks was broken by the plans for Homecoming. During the homecoming week, many hours were spent working until dark, painting and getting Rosie to run. Coach appreciated the Seniors decorations, which still remain in his room. Let’s see, where did those come from, Matt? Jane, Beth, and Nancy added their artistic abilities to Room 5 when they painted an Irish locomotive. After decorating the seniors picked up in the spirit of things with a ride in the car. The only trouble was that it was after dark and the car did not have any lights. When Matt pulled in to get some gas there was someone waiting for us, or so it seemed. The boys shut off the car remarking that it probably wouldn’t start agin. Guess what? It didn’t start and tom had to call his dad. Finaly we got it started, then we headed for home. On Saturday , October 11, we played Nemaha Valley. The game was late in getting started because the refs forgot to show up. Replacements were soon found. Mary Jo and Scott were crowned queen and king at halftime. We won the game and then had a dance afterward. The seniors had the job of decorating the Christmas tree at the Christmas formal. Matt and Coach could not follow directions very well and put the trees together with the branches upside down. Then one of the girls had to fix it. The second sememster opened with the seniors choosing teams for Mental Olympics. Tom’s team came out on top without losing a single game. Not too much else has happened these last few months except that the seniors have been busy de- ciding on what to do in the future. As the graduating seniors we won’t forget the memories that were made and shared at Sacred Heart. As someone once said, “It’s been REAL and it's been NICE, yeah high school has been REAL NICE. 34 Girls Attend Business Contest Pep Club Chooses Cheerleaders fW iW'aV Ooi 1 6 0 % 0-. 5 Fish Filets To Sizzle Friday for Boy s Sports .5- . 6° Rjcmcmtei?' 75-76 s 'O b' C%5 $ If i. 0 •Jt , % r •o i i 1 1 , pi “Sl CHO«CH They) re Off M 'es J°Uy jf j y S?CJ church e e ! for daily w n N ' s H0N0R students e a at awards day Area Merchants Support Irish APPLEOFF APPLIANCE ARMBRUSTER MOTOR CO.
