Beatrice had Just finished a course under the eminent Professor Geo. Abbott, instructor at Columbia University. As we were speaking a loud din fro the stage assailed our ears that we instantly knew to be Pat Satchemo McKee a His Band. As his theme song died away, Pat introduced his popular songstress, Marie Linneberger, singing one of the season's hit songs by Mary Jennerson. McKee and Company had just returned from England, where they had presented a command performance before King Leo, of the House of Wheaton. Time forced me on, but as I strolled along, I collided with Dr. Joseph Mulvenon- on his way to a consultation with Dr. Rice. He explained that he had just left Romaine Fiffe and Charles Kelly, Mechanical and Chemical Engineers for the new World's Fair, to be held in the roof-garden of Baroness Livingston Shultz. They had given Dr. Mulvenon the news that Helen Nusse, the famous flyer, had just landed in Ernest Vishneske's Photography Booth at the Fair. But on to the office! There, I hurried to the desk of the 'Times Circulation Manager, Fred Schuler, who I found talking to Francis Barth, the head of the trucking department. After relating my experiences in the park, we got to talking about old times in the little red school house in Salina. We spoke immediately of the battle being waged between Speaker of the House Forristal, and the President of the United States, Raymond Streckfus, concerning the appointment of Francis Schwartz as Chief Justice. From there, our conversation turned to the well-known National Auditors, John Bertles and Harold Finan, who had made names for themselves with their unceasing activities balancing the nation's budget. At this point, we were interrupted by another of the old grads, Marie Brady, the company's very efficient secretary. She, too, had news from Salina. Bernard Brungardt, a practicing physician in Salina, had just received an appointment from the Governor of Kansas, the Honorable Mike Brown, to the Board of Health, headed by Mary A. Poelma. Dr. Brungardt's worthy colleague, Dr. Fitzpatrick, was at the present time, on a trip around the world in the new Clipper of which Arlene Kohman was the charming stewardess. Mr. Barth then told his exciting news-Father Joseph O'She'a, D. D., had recently joined in holy wedlock, D. J. Bachofer and Ceclia Smith, a case of Boss marrying Secretary. Marie then told us that Loretta Neishburg had but a short time ago given up her job in a Salina department store to become a Sister of St. Joseph, and that Mary F. Martin and Loretta Beck had formed a successful partnership in a thriving chicken farm. At that moment the phone rang. It was Rita Kelley, my personal secretary, whom I have had with me since Josephine Burns left my employment to be married. Rita told me that I had just received tickets for my wife and me to a- concert in Carnegie Hall by Agnes Quinn, the leading soprano of the Met, Also in the mall was an autographed book from Marcella Dowling, a famous novelist of the day, and a letter from Lavya Rogers asking for a donation to help establishla home for Souther,n Unfortunates.
