Junior ' s cake, and lasting memories AWARDS DAY 120 BACCALAUREATE a day cf? Miati cb 121 In the process of trying to find just the right challenge, I recalled the advice a teacher gave recently on the last day of classes. He said that if he had only two pieces of wisdom tc leave us with they would be, first use the fullest extent of our capabilities when we attempt things- to give every¬ thing our best effort, and second, to know how and when to say no- I don ' t want to do that or don ' t like that. In a sense he was saying to us, get to know yourselves, know you r priori¬ ties, what you want and don ' t want. Be the best that you can be so that you can like yourselves. My challenge to the class of 1984 is this: For each and every one of you to be uniquely you, and to be happy. Know and retpcct yourselves. Uphola your personal ideals, because if you don ' t, no one else will. Realize your power and your potential. We really do hold the future in our hands be¬ cause we are the future. We will be the politicians, engineers, gymnasts, artists and presidents in the years to come. There are two things that no one can ever take away from us; our spirits, the sparks of vitality which are uni¬ quely us, and our dreams, and the desire to make them come true. Nothing is ever achieved without per¬ sistence, and conversely, nothing is ever lost by it. We only fail when we don ' t try.
