As young Americans striving for the next milestone, you will have many choices to make. There will be many opportunities to put your energy, your intelligence and your idealism to work. This nation possesses the most advanced technology in the world. It has a wealth of natural resources, an open political system, a diverse economy and outstanding educational opportunities. As you take advantage of these priceless national assets, remember that you serve both as their caretaker -- so they may be preserved -- and as a contributor to improve these assets for the generations which follow you. As you leave high school in this Bicentennial year, you should also be conscious of the heritage of courage, faith, vision and vitality bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers. Yours is a generation of great potential, limited only by the bounds of your imagination. As you meet the future, you have my very best wishes for peace, prosperity and success. ★ ★ ★ ★ Dedication We, the Senior Class of ’76, dedicate this yearbook to you, Sister Theresina, on the occasion of your golden jubilee. Sister Theresina was born in Neu St. Johann, Kt. St. Gallen, Switzerland, September 29, 1904. She was baptized Klara Luisa Grob. She had a very happy childhood in the family circle of her parents, three brothers, and a sister. She attended the Primary Parish School for six years and then transferred to a private co-ed school for three years of study as an extern. For the next two years she attended the Teachers' Training School of the Teaching Sisters of the Holy Cross in Menzingen, Kt. Zug, Switzerland. In 1923 she became a Candidate of the Olivetan Benedictine Sisters of Holy Angels Convent, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Due to immigration laws, her arrival at Jonesboro was delayed a year. These happy days of waiting for entrance into the United States of America, gave her the opportunity for a sojourn in Quebec and Montreal, Canada. In November 1925 she arrived at Holy Angels Convent where she remained as a Postulant and made her first Profession of Vows in 1926. Her first assignment as a teacher was here in Muenster at Sacred Heart School where she taught the sixth grade; she also taught geometry and algebra to the ninth and tenth graders. During her teaching career, Sister Theresina has taught at Holy Angels Academy, Jonesboro, Arkansas; Saint Paul's High School, Pocahontas, Arkansas; and she has given thirty-three years of dedicated work to Sacred Heart here in Muenster. At the close of the graduation exercises during this bicentennial year, Bishop Augustine Dangelmayr presented a bouquet of flowers to Sister Theresina in behalf of all the students she has taught during the past fifty years. The entire congregation joined in the Thank You, Sister Theresina by giving a rousing applause as Sister Theresina came forward to receive the bouquet. Like the Founding Fathers of America who left their homes in Europe to build a new nation under God, so, too, did Sister Theresina leave her family and friends in Europe to come to America and serve the Church in Arkansas and Texas. We salute you. Sister Theresina, and acknowledge our appreciation to you and to our pioneer ancestors who worked so hard during the past eighty-seven years to build this community.
