RELIGION Jerry Cleve, GHS Sr. Mary Gloria, SHA Fr. Gerald Leahy, GHS A. 3AfI5','1- Fr. Pisors helps concelebrate St. Viator's Day Mass. Sr. Mary Linda, SHA Sr. Mary Peter. SHA .xr if ln the school year 1979-1980, Griffin High School will acquire a new religion course due partly to the efforts of the Pastoral Advisory Council CP.A.C.J. So successful was the P.A.C. in its first year, that the Religion Depart- ment agreed to offer a course entitled The Role of the Laity in the Church. The course will provide class time for P.A.C. activities. The role of the P.A.C. is to determine the spiritual needs of the Griffin Com- munity, to determine how best to meet these needs, and to evaluate the pro- gress in meeting these needs. The Pastoral Advisory Council is to be composed of a pastoral director, students, faculty members, parents, and parish priests. Various committees were formed to accomplish the needs of the Council, namely, the Liturgical Committee, Spiritual Life Committee, Community Life Committee, Recreation Commit- tee, Finance Committee, and Commu- nication Committee. The P.A.C. proved to be an asset to the Griffin community as penance ser- vices, masses, and prayer times were scheduled and planned throughout the year. As for the future, the P.A.C. can only hope to be as promising. With the sup- port of the Religion Department and one year of experience behind it, how- ever, the Council stands a fair chance. open book inspires Jerry Cleve.
