Martial Arts, Bike Club, put a picture of me there - I just couldn't take anymore! Wait, let me start from the beginning. ln The Beginning Was The Word CSTOP, too far back, up a little bitj Friends, Romans, Countrym- Ca little fartherj O.K. Dan, your associate editor Cperfect, right therej What, but I don't a thing about year- books. It was then I heard about the curse They warned me about the Taylor Publishing Co.'s curse of page 60, but I didn't listen. Oh how I wish I would've listened, but Nooooooo! Was it all worth it, the wretched torturing of my mind, Nay, I say. COut, out dam spotj Cget your composure old boyy C l wonder how l'd look in a moustache, or maybe a beard - page 60 J Time and time again Penny Russian's never ending voice echoes in my head. On that static filled telephone line in her Texas drawl - This is TAYLOR, we received your proofs, but we're missing PAGE 60! She was laughing at me, I-IEEEEEELLLLPPPPP. CWhy didn't I listen'?J CThat's the troublej with us writers, never get enough excersise, 'WHAT, NO SPONSOR, BUT I PAID FOR IT', maybe a coupla' push-upsj Cl'm meltingj QSTOP IT, STOP IT PENNY, stop playing with my mindy In desperation Lou and I searched for something to grasp on to, The Equestrian Club, the Boycott Coors Committee Cthanx Gerj anything, but noth- ing was to be found. Nothing will ever repair the damage you've done Russian. I have just one final comment - Lou and Co. watch out, it's gonna' get ya', and don't say I didn't warn you! Cthey're coming to take me away ha hay What I Wanted This brief insight is for those of you who would like some idea of what the WISGI happened to this page. Those of you who are already enjoying the book and want to stay ignorant, just skip this and go on. Ahh! I see you have decided to stay. Very well, here goes! Page 60 just started out as just another club page and was no big deal, but as the year progressed, there was a barage of new clubs which required a radical change of layout. As I buzzed around the office, the deadline stalked for the kill and the day of reckoning found me counting the pages as I sent them in, 58, 59, 61 , 623' Perfect, all present and accounted for Csee what such pressure does to peopIe?j. I sent the pages off with a smile on my face. About three weeks later, while I was reclining in my office, Herb Caen and java in hand, I received a phone call from the plant: You seem to have excluded page 60 from your most recent shipment. WHAT! I exclaimed but, alas, a quick glance at the board and page 60 stood out like a Coors bottle in an ice chest full of Mic. My mind raced to find something, ANYTHING, to put on that infernal page. But, to no avail, the only club I had left uncovered, or so it seemed, was the anonymous Ski Club, but the only picture I had of them was taken during a recent snowstorm. Well, I commented, lt will have to do. But what about the rest of the page, I began to reason, I owe my highly intellectual readers Cyou have to be to have stayed on this farj an explanation of just what took place here. Guitarists John Ali and Carl Tuvo show their enthusiasm as the Band performs at a game. Also affected by the frenzy, John Baratta salutes the crowd with a toss of his scarf. A dramatic moment captures the attention of the Band. Something which, at times, is rather hard to do. Band 65 SER VICE Cl. UB 1 . 66 Service Club sc, 1? f 2. Back Row, J. Brucia, K. Lee, A. Woo, M. P hoto Staff The inner workings of this year's staff have been dramatically dynamic and in many cases, drastic. Many progressive changes have revealed themselves. Among these changes was a change in moderatorship for the Photo Staff and, most importantly, the development of a more mature attitude. This book is a prod- uct of the turmoil, sweat, disillisionment, and insights. But most importantly, it is the product of the learning process undergone by the staff. This drama and the lessons learned from it were invaluable. And to this editor especially, the book itself, no matter which qualitites it possesses or lacks, is worthless when com- pared fo the maturing process experienced during its conception. The staff itself was a varied group, they var- ied in both involvement and enthusiams. It was obvious that certain persons were swept up into the wave of vision as it rolled in while oth- ers remained dry and seemingly out-of-focus. l assure you, that in the years to come, as the pages of this book begin to brown, and the crit- icisms fade, the lessons learned through this book's production will become a part of the lives ofthe staff that produced it. It is the hope of the members of the Board that the spirit of the Christian Brothers and the atmosphere created by their prescence which has touched you these past four years at Sacred Heart will remain with you through- out your lives to influence your every endeavor. You graduating parents too, are extended the Board's congratulations. Con- gratulations first for having the foresight to have your sons attend Sacred Heart High School, and, of course, for reaching this benchmark in your sons' and in your own lives. Finally, l would urge each continuing parent to involve yourself in the activi- ties of the Parents' Association. The Association's activities directly relate to the education of your son during perhaps his most critical formative years. Your par- ticipation in Association activities helps him, and thus you.
