we be in at the end... lf the story of a year in high school has any significance at all, it has significance only in its relationship to graduation from high school, For every day spent in school is but a day spent in preparation for leaving it. Commencement exercises, precisely because they come at the end of the school year, often lose much of their meaning. If we're not graduating ourselves, the event doesn't touch us at all. And if we chance to be the fourth-year men involved, we 're apt to be still in such a swirl from the exclusive, the picnic, and other senior- week activities that full realization doesn't dawn until that awful moment, when, weak-kneed and perspiring, we grasp our diploma, and manage to get back to our seats. And when we stand to sing for the last time the Sacred Heart alma mater, we know, in truth, that an end has come to some of the happiest days of our lives.
