twig it A SOPHOMORE is . . . a girl with a comforting sense of belonging. a superior being smiling from her height on the woes of the frosh. To be an insignificant member of the school whose rough edges are being polished for the years to come. a bundle of contradictory views that she does not hesitate to proclaim. a rebel to whom few things in life seem right. a sophomore is . . . to find study overwhelming and more than a little inhibiting. to become upset too quickly and to cry with embarrassing ease. to be filled with longing but to understand only dimly what is missing. to envy the privileges of upperclassmen yet to be without real ambition. to imitate the crowd but to be wise enough to hate oneself for doing so. to be confused about oneself and about the whole wide world.
