1-Q-33399333333391'i'Q'961'991'933Q' emoried Mary Rita Miller and Eleanor Bird Memories are the thoughts of past and present happenings which linger in our minds. The memories of Ursuline Academy of the Sacred Heart are ones which will remind us of the four glorious years we have spent here. Our memories are like links in a long chain which brings back the many happy events of our carefree school days. Let's wander back over our high school days and recall a few of those events which filled our hearts with joy. Can you recall the time when we were green Freshmen wandering fearfully through the corridors? Initiation Day - the thoughts of which filled us with terror but contrary to our belief, it became one of our happiest days. Remember the aroma of hydrogen sulfide which permeated the school with an undescribable fragrance? Can you recall a certain religion class in which a kitten with a huge blue bow strolled so nonchalantly up and down the aisles. The Veronica Lake hair style was extremely popular in 1944. It annoyed our teachers to look at one- eyed students. Who can ever forget the melodious strains Csuch a fibj of Au Jardin de mon pete, floating from the French class. ' After a basketball game, two musical minded Seniors ventured to the jewish Singing Society. A young lady crawling along the floor in an undignified fashion with a lighted candle certainly kept things bright in the Chemistry class. The grocery store sold a large supply of bicarbonate of soda when the Home Ec. Survey class began making such delicious dainties. CWho's kidding who?D , The bolod-curdling cries of the First-Aid victims echoing through the halls can never be forgotten. The Triple Trio with their beautifully trained voices was the pride of our heart. Remember our Sleeping Beauty of the Religion Class who was so oblivious of everybody and everything. Examination week was always a week of terror .The school corridors were filled with the walking dead. Remember how well the mock funeral of C guess whob went off. Everyone was so deeply touched. Forlorn and dateless? roaming out to the Beach on High School Day. Whose hobby is mimicking various laughs? - Practicing and learning our parts for many successful plays - The jovial and friendly atmosphere at the luncheon tables- Rollicking good times at the Latin, Ignatius and Benedictine basketball and football games also the hilarious times after - ' Field Day was always a day of fun. The games were exciting and the spirit of the girls made you proud that you were an Ursuline girl. Our retreats will never be forgotten. They filled us with peace and gave us the grace necessary to carry out our new resolutions. The Prom was one of the greatest events of the year. It was the main topic of conversation Cman shortagej for weeks. Everyone enjoyed it immensely. The May Crowning has always held a very special place in every Ursuline girlis heart. It was a beautiful manifestation of love to our Blessed Mother. The junior-Senior Banquet was one of our happiest events and yet a sad one, too. We just couldn't believe that next year we would not be attending this gala affair. The delicious dinner, the witty chatter of the girls, the entertainment, the signing of memory books and the comradeship of the girls made the affair a huge success. Finally, graduation came along and we were now leaving our beloved Alma Mater. Some would travel the road of happiness and others would meet with disappointment but will conquer them through the grace of the Holy Ghost. Our graduation was a beautiful sight that we shall never forget. Yes, it was truly a time of profound joy and of sadness, too. PAGE TWENTY-UNE ' 3993331-ggi-301-61-901-33-Q-39 .
