RELIGIO Religion, as we know it, is the basis of a Catho- lic high school education. At Sacred Heart Acad- emy there are religion classes throughout the four years of training and so it becomes an integral part of every-day school life. In the freshman year, the religion class centers about the Church, the parish and the Sacraments. During the sopho- more year, it concerns itself with the very im- portant part of the Mass and the Commandments. The students learn the great spiritual benefits gained by attending Mass and the rules of right conduct as stated in the Commandments. Junior Year brings with it a religion class different from the previous two years. The Juniors study maps of jerusalem and read from the Bible. They also have to memorize the psalms and quotations from the Scriptures. MUSIC Music plays a very important role in the life of every stualent at Sacred Heart. The purpose of studying music is to learn to appreciate good musie. Life is sometimes more beautiful and satis- fying through a genuine appreciation of the skill and efforts of others especially in the Held of music. lfreshmen and sophomores learn how to read and write the basic scales. They also study the hi- ographies and contributions of the great com- posers.
