5fII'1't71'f'ft71I I Looking up Cathedral Avenue from Fulton, one is awed by the expansive grounds and stately buildings that comprise Sacred Heart Academy. The Seminary, the Academy itself, the Convent, the music house , the west lawn, the parking lot, the tennis court,-all guarded by the statue of the Sacred Heart that is a familiar landmark to everyone who knows Hempstead. And it has meant so much to all of us, the graduates of 1955. True, we may look at the Seminary path and think of the forbidden short- cut across the lawn to make the attendance call on time in the morning, or we may glance at the statue of St. Joseph on the Convent circle and think of its original position in the gym lobby when we first moved into the school building, or even pass the caretakerls home and recall our freshmen classes in the same small cottage, when it was Tekakwitha Hall. Alonzo as our principal. Sister believes in treating all the students as young women and, through her understanding, her loyalty, and her personal interest in each one, she has every student's respect and cooperation. The Graduates of 1955 wish Sister M. Alonzo many more years of successful training of the young and We depart knowing the undergraduates will find it a pleasure in knowing Sister as a special friend of every Sacred Heart girl.
