je Bu un imma K, ,N f... Q ,....,,. .,A'j,.:: A .-. -A rn... A -- AINT JOSEPH, Prince of Carpenter-Men, built, mended and rebuilt according to the plans and Wishes of his clien- tele among the Nazarenes. All this he did for Mary and through Mary for Jesus. Thus, We might say that he has ever been a model for those who Wish to build in the material World. As the Christ Child grew in years, He, too, in imitation of His foster-father, set out to build. But His field of labor was the things of the spirit . . . the things that meant so much to His Heavenly Father . . . an expansion of His Kingdom through- out the world. And so, the Sacred Heart has been a symbol for the constructors and expanders of the spiritual World. Both Saint Joseph and the Sacred Heart have been omnipresent in our lives here at Sacred Heart Academy. The name of our school, the emblems We so proudly Wear, the coat of arms that decorates our building, the school motto-all bespeak the tender affection We have for them. Love for Christ prompted the foundation of this very school. Love for Him has filled us with a daily need and desire to accom- plish something toward His Honor and Glory. And it has always been Saint Joseph who gave us the right plan of action. He could point out the hard but sure road of sacrifice, the humble but loving means of serving Christ a bit better. Yes, We have been doubly blessed! With Saint Joseph, our builder in the material sense, and the Sacred Heart, a Builder of the spiritual, our school has emerged, dedicated to the achievement of true Catholic Womanhood. That is Why the theme of our first issue of EX-CORDE is THE BUILDER. - Page eleven
