AT Sacred HearT, The girls were given a chance To broaden Their sense of culTure wiTh course such as Spanish, French, and LaTin. For The ouTsTanding sTudenTs, There were The Spanish and French Honor SocieTies. Somefimes, Though, English iTself was a foreign language! ShorThand, for example, resembled The hieroglyphics on an Egyp- Tian pyramid. How could a looped line acTually mean someThing significanT'? Upperclassmen knew The answer well enough. As They advanced furTher inTo The course, They began To realize The impor- Tance of shorThand in business. Once sTudenTs discovered ThaT compuTer liTeracy was neces- sary even in Their regular sTudles, words like GOTO and RUN kepT popping up in Their vocabulary. Science and business classes expecially relied on compuTers as a handy Teaching Tool.
