Scientwc Terms Became Part of Every After trying to turn SHAers into female Einsteins, most science teachers were satisfied if they appreciated and understood some of the intricacies of their environment. Advanced Biology students, with four teachers, dissected fetal pigs and fish to study the organs of more ad- vanced forms of life. To see life developing, the biology class experimented with chicken embryos-hatching them for Easter. Having conquered pigeon holes and electron dots, chemistry students studied the structural formulas of molecules and balancing equations. Physics students experimented with effects of electricity and gravity while physical science classes studied everything from light energy to reflections and refractions. This regular class work plus entering science fairs kept SHA scientists busy and labs humming. Fun and Mastered The modern math courses offered at Sacred Heart are extensive and intense. Entering freshmen no longer call their math arithmeticg now it's Algebra I and they learn the vast difference between the two. As sopho- mores they move on to bigger accomplishments as they tackle the triangular, square and sometimes octagon problems of Geometry. This year it is possible to take Algebra I and Geometry in a period of three years in- stead of two. Or one can move on to Algebra II for her junior year. An Algebra II class is filled with sounds like Don't you remember anything you learned as a freshman? or You were supposed to learn that from the first chapter of the Algebra I bookf' With luck and perseverence SHAers survive and are finally in the midst of elementary functions of trigonometry and then graduate owing much to a fine staff of Math teachers and the overhead Caroline Cook works long boarr fafler Jcboolj ar fbe mfioef to become more like Eifzfzfeifz. is ss' W the Number Systems ff. .
