Annually the National Honor ' Society has presented a Valentine Dance, but this year the society broke tradition and intorduced the Mardi Gras Dance. Although costumes were not required, all juniors and seniors were urged to wear them to create a New Orleans spirit. SHAers and their dates appeared in outfits ranging from Indians, tigers and clowns to Bonnies and Clydes, Scarlett O'Haras, and 1920 flapper girls. As the first Mardi Gras Queen, Georgia Keegan reigned throughout the night with Debbie Pearce as Princess. The royalty and attendants Anne Currier, Sue Bruning, Tricia Aubrey, and julie Lippy danced to the sound of Summertime, the traditional coronation song. Seniors and Mothers halted Over Tea Instead of rain for the Senior Prom, there was rain for the annual Mother-Daughter Tea. But despite the bad !5 weather, seniors and their moms turned out in large numbers. Dressed in their best, the class of '68 appeared quite sophisticated compared to their weekday styles. Gingerly they pinned the white carnations with blue ribbons to their mothers' dresses and gladly served them cookies and punch. In some cases the mothers with adopted daughters received double portions. Sipping their punch, mothers and daughters leisurely chatted with the faculty-a perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday.
