' e Fun and festivals describe Latin Club projects this year. President Nanette Motter and moderator Sister Antonia headed the first meeting where the officers explained the purpose of the club. Modeling the very latest in togas, one sophomore class presented a Roman fashion show, The Scipionic Circle celebrated Christ- mas with reports on Saturnalia, the Roman version of Christmas, and the re-enactment of Christ's birth in Latin. Different projects put together by each member contributed an authentic air to the Latin Fair this year. These included displays of funeral games, the Roman Senate, the ancient homes, literature, and even how the Romans of long ago mailed letters. With the guidance of moderators Sisters Alverna and Timothy, German Club members researched various topics concerning the Deutschland's culture. Under- standing the German education system became the first project for the club members. President jan Mudwilder and the officers obtained a movie featuring land marks along the banks of the Rhine River. The mem- bers of the club also concerned themselves with the development of the cities of Munich, Frankfort, Berlin, and Diesseldorf. First, second, and third year frauleins introduced the Christmas season with a film of children's carols. Trinity and SHA German Club mem- bers celebrated Christmas in the spirit of Deutschland with traditional dances like Stodola Pompa. Each of the monthly meetings served to embellish the class periods. I34 Organizations Promoting further study into scientific fields, the SHA Curie Science Club and Trinity High School's biology club held seminars, went on field trips, and entered science fairs. The seminars, with guest speakers Dr. Thomas Kargyl and Dr. james Longley, covered such topics as karotenes and kidney tissues. Field trips to Bernheim Forest and Haunz's farm provided the club with an opportunity to view plant life. Members drove to the Fort Knox Symposium only to be caught by nine inches of snow and forced to leave early. Besides hold- ing their own science fair, members entered the Trinity High School Science Fair and the Louisville Regional Science Fair, The time and effort put into the projects was not in vain, for prizes were brought home from all of the science fairs entered.
