MYERS UNITED STATES NAVY A 1978 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a northem Virginia native, Captain Al Myers is the Commanding Officer of USS Sacramento KAOE lD,homeported in Bremerton, Washington. Captain Myers previously served as Organizational Policy Branch Chief in the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate, J -5, Joint Staff. Prior to the Joint Staff. he served as Deputy Executive Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations. In December I994, he completed command of Fighter Squadron THIRTY-TWO CVF-325, flying F-14 Tomcats onboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER CCVN 695. Prior squadron and sea tours in the F-14 Tomcat include VF-1433 VF-l4g and VF-lOl. He also deployed with VF- lO3 onboard USS SARATOGA CCV 603 nd USS FORRESTAL CCV 595 in the F-4 Phantom. HOLLAND UNITED STATES NAVAL RESERVE A native of Beaufort, South Carolina and a 1985 graduate of the University of South Carolina, LCDB Holland reported as Executive Officer of USS SACRAMENTO QAOE 15 homeported in Bremerton, Washington in March 1999. Prior to assuming his current duty, LCDB Holland served ashore as the Director, Flight and Surface Budget, and later as Director, Operations and Maintenance, Naval Beserve Budget on the staff of Commander, Naval Besenfe Force in New Orleans, Louisiana. Previous shore assignments have included duty as Group Material Officer on the Staff of Commander, Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and as Mobilization and Training Officer on the Staff of Naval and- 6 Marine Corps Beserve Readiness Center in San Diego, California. Previous afloat assignments have included duty as Chief Engineer on board USS SENTBY QMCM 33 homeported in Ingleside, Texas, and as Main Propulsion Assistant on board USS CAYUGA QLST 11865 homeported in Long Beach, California. Becoming a Naval Beserve TAB Officer in 1989, LCDB Holland holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with emphasis in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Business Administration degree with emphasis in Financial Management from National University in San Diego, California. DYER UNITED STATES NAVY Born in Oakland, California, ETCMISWXSS5 Dyer entered the Navy in February of 1972. Upon completion of Basic Training and then Quartermaster A School, he was assigned to USS OUAPAW KATF 1105 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where he served from 1972 to 1974. Following his tour aboard the USS OUAPAW, ETCMISWXSS5 Dyer attended signalman A School and was assigned to USS MOUNT HOOD QAE 295 from 1974 to 1977. In August of 1974 he transferred to Concord Naval Weapons Station, California, where he received his Tugmaster license. ln February 1980, ETCMISWXSS5 Dyer was honorably discharged from the Navy. In April- 1981, he reentered the Navy and was assigned to Bangor Submarine Base as a tugmaster until May 1983. He then attended Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut and was assigned to USS GROTON ISSN 6945. In September 1984 he was selected for Chief Petty Officer and transferred to the USS WHALE ISSN 6385, where he served as the Assistant Navigator. Following his tour aboard the USS WHALE, ETCMKSWXSS5 Dyer was assigned as the Assistant Navigator aboard the USS ALASKA iSSl3N 7325. From October 1989, until March 1993, he senfed as an instructor for advanced ship control at Bangor Trident Training Facility. He was then assigned to USS HENRY M. JACKSON ISSBN 7305 as Chief of the Boat. ln January 1996, Master Chief Petty Officer Dyer attended the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island. Upon graduation from the Academy, he was assigned to SIMA, Everett as Command Master Chief. In May 1997, he transferred to USS SACRAMENTO CAOE 15, where he continues to serve as the Command Master Chief. ETCMISWXSS5 Dyer is married to the former Evaline R. Finsch of Castro Valley, California. There are four work centers that combine to make up the Executive team. The Captains Office is manned by Yeomen and is responsible for maintaining Officer Service Records, preparing personal correspondence, and producing the Plan of the Day fcheck your e-mail, its therel, as well as any other tasks the CO or XO dictates. Moving aft, you enter the Legal Office, home of the Master at Arms and the Legalmen. Abandon hope all ye who enter here, for they provide the command with legal advise as well as prepare all papenrvork and conduct all investigations for CO's Mast or Court-Martial. They also administer the ever popular urinalysis screening fsweet good, sour badl. Next door, we come to the gatekeepers of the Navy, the Command Career Counselors. They seldom remain in their cage...office and have been known to prowl the messdecks in search of a soul. Many a servant of the government has signed for a term, but belonged for a lifetime. The fourth section of the Admin quatern is the Personnel Office. Personnelmen separate the Chaff from the wheat and maintain and make all entries into the Enlisted Service Record on the occasions of checking in, advancement, personal qualification, reenlistment, retirement, separation, and checking out. Other denizens that may be spotted wandering the passageways of the Admin Zone include the Command 3-M Coordinator, who is responsible for maintaining SACFtAMENTO's material standard of excellence. The Command Master Chief is always ready to help a sailor with a personal or professional issue, or just to give advise on a golf swing. The Executive in Charge, the Executive Officer, is charged with maintaining professional standards on behalf of the Commanding Officer. Finally, we recognize the person that hamasses the output of the Admin juggernaut and uses it for the purposes of good, the Admin Officer. Fleady to brave a dangling participle or to throw herself on a live keyboard and write one for the team, she epitomizes the pinnacle of admin excellence. Air det's primary mission while assigned to SACRAMENTO is to rapidly disperse supplies, ammunition, passengers, and mail from the Number One AOE to the other ships of the fleet. Secondary mission parameters include the ability to perform Search and Rescue, Special Operations, and other combat-oriented missions. The two H-46D Sea Knight helicopters, six pilots Q- 3 nuggetsl, and 21 ground crew of HC-11 Det 7 are well trained for these missions and take pride in their ability to excel in all areas of specialization fsee pictures on following pagesl.
