Second Division is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of approximately 16,000 square feet of shipboard spaces on SACRAMENTO, WHICH includes the portside O1 level, the main deck, fantail, and the flight deck. Second Division also fulfills a unique and critical mission: Maintaining all of the aviation support equipment used to support helicopter operations, espe- cially during VERTICAL REPLENISHMENT operations. Second Division has been responsible for the towing of a spar target for bomb run exercises by carrier air wings. Also, a rarely needed job that 2nd Div. does is Ship Towing operations: The SACRAMENTO ls capable of towing other ships when required
