PREFACE On Monday September 22 the Fast Combat Support Ship USS SACRAMENTO returned to her homeport of Bremerton Washington following a highly successful Western Pacific deployment. While on WestPac the 500 man crew of the SACRAMENTO steamed more than 52,000 miles in support of Seventh fleet operations. These operations included 84 days assignment in the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. While in the Indian Ocean, SACRAMENTO operated with carrier task groups led by the USS MIDWAY, USS NIMITZ, USS CONSTELLATION, and the USS EISENHOWER. While overseas SACRAMENTO visited many interesting ports, including, Hawaii, Guam, Subic Bay, Republic of the Philippines, Diego Garcia, Port Louis Mauritius, Singapore, and Pattya Beach Thailand. WESTPAC 1980 was a memorable experience for all who were involved with it. The staff of this twelfth cruisebook hopes that we have captured some of the memories of the cruise. '
