National Honor Society received three juniors who were especially cutstanding in all phases of school life. There were many others in the class who showed their ability in activities, and who should be leaders next year. Indian Sentinel work gave many juniors a chance to get a taste cf real journalism, by editing and reporting. Music-minded juniors carried away high honors in contests, and some of the groups were ccmposed entirely of juniors. Athletic juniors who will lead next year's varsity teams were already making a place for themselves on this year's teams. The fans once again were able to see the good old Red and White! After two years on the warpath and not a single scalp, the Indians suddenly turned savage. Many opponents fell in the vicious massa- cres executed by the high-spirited and pride-filled warriors, under the thorough leadership and coach- ing of their Chief Dewey Halford. Getting off to a slow start against the cocky Car- roll Tigers, the Indians shocked many a fan out of his moccasins by heating the Storm Lake Tornadoes. The Warriors may have been caught napping against Jefferson, but they tied the mighty Harlan team and rolled on to knock off victories against Rock- wrll City, Denison, and much rivaled Odebolt. Against the peppy Cherokee team, the Indians didn't use their tomahawks well enough, but the mighty warriors finished the season in triumphant glory by thoroughly trampling Ida Grove. Here are Hoover and his mighty Indians who piled up an im- pressive list of wins to claim the Midwest Conference title and to remain undefeated on their own floor until the district tournament. Many teams came off the floor after a thorough trouncing hy the superior team from Sac City. Many cinders have been left in disappointed op- ponents eyes, and many chills have been felt in Sac City fans as the speedy Indians excelled, capturing many trophies and much recognition. Whether it was field events or on the oval, the mighty Indians certainly made all of their fans proud to acknowledge their impressive record. Nowhere can there be found more pep or higher enthusiasm than in Coach Hanshaw's well instructed athletes, whether it be basketball, football, or track. These boys not only possess the required traits needed for superior performance, but they have the vitality and aggressive- ness to put them out front when the road to success is very narrow. With these junior sports as our future warriors, it is obvious that sport fans have a bright future to look forward to. So, fellow sportsmen, go forth-the door of success is beckoning. Hail to the Future Homemakers These are the girls who face the future with Warm courage and high hope. They started out this successful year of '48-'49 with a bang by hav-- ing FHA week, including an all-school assembly program, and a formal installation of officers. FHA clubs from surrounding towns were in- vited as guests. Among the many club activities, the main highlight of events is the annual Valentine Formal. We also enjoyed a Christmas party with FFA and Projectors Club. Not only do we find enjoyment for ourselves, but we try to pro- mote world friendship by sending Christmas packages to Holland and Switzerland. One meeting we had devoted to Russia, with the ft'c'vlfj' invited for a pot-luck supper. It isn't all play, thoughg just ask our advisor and our officers, and all the others who helped us make this a year to remember in FHA. May they go down in history as the leading farmers of our nation. Under the leadership of their handsome executive committee, President, Duane Haleyg Vice-President, Burdette Dominog Secretary, Dick Marting Treasurer, Wilinei' Mooney, and the Reporter Bill Hatch, ihc chapter had a busy year. They polished the apple at a faculty picnic, selected their chapter sweetheart at the Harvest Ball, dashed off to a National Convention at Kansas City, and entertained proud pas and mas at a Parent-Son Ban- quet. Their energy and enthusiasm must have come from the eight day trip through the Ozarks last summer or from the many high honors taken at the Iowa State Fair. If nothing succeeds like success, this FFA gang can look forward to many more years of triumphs. Page Sixty-ont L... Career Day Student Council of- ficers and Miss Aucker go over the budget for Career Day. On questioneers, students indicate which vocations they want to hear about. What are YOU going to do when you get out of school?', This was the question that brought seniors from all eight high schools in Sac county to our school on April 13 for Career Day. Speakers told us about the different occupations we might enter and the qualifications we needed for each. But most important we got out of regular classes for the day to listen, to think, and to plan our own futures. Then comes the day Miss Auclcer introduces the speakers Sixty-two l .'i'i.'
