p 6144.6 Ni tory The year 1935 found a group of boys and girls, most certainly not angels, but rather nice in their way, starting to kindergarten in Sac City Grade School. This incident, if all facts were known, could be called the 'Gturning point of the centuryf' First grade found Ruthie and Jamie Syl- vester with perpetual sore heads from Miss Watsonis thick black pencils. ln second grade we all formed an ambi- tion to be good Indians when we studied all about Chief Blackhawk. This ambition carried through all of our high school days. Townsend's dog was our playmate during recess-all 30 feet of him. Ann claims she had the most valentines in third grade. That was the year that we got to go to the pioneer cabin downtown. Going down the post-office hill and turning somer- saults at the bottom was our favorite pastime. All the boys, hearts were a-flutter in fourth grade when Joan Schwitzer entered. Miss McCormick kept all the girls in one recess for picking on Dephaune. They were all tearful in five minutes, including Dephaune. Sixth grade is known as the year of 'GBurk- heimer's Chase. He still thinks Miss Kim- ball wouldnit have caught him except for that Christmas tree cord. Janet Green made Twelve us all envious when she came with her long braids. Seventh grade, and we advanced to junior high. Running between buildings in rain and sleet was our job that year. And we were so careful to keep our lockers locked, so no one would get in. ln eighth grade the world discovered Evan's wolfish powers. The bashful country freshmen amazed the old veterans. Maurice Luke was the shyest thing f?'n. When we were freshmen, 'we were still allowed free reign in the study hall at noon. During the next year the sophomores racked up a new record for popping off street lights with snowballs. This was also the year of the battle of the sexes between the boys and girls. Marilyn Davis finally found out in her junior year that when you're selling some- thing, you aren't to say, You don't want to buy any magazines, do you?,' The theme of the prom was Spanish. Evan Truax was the master of ceremonies. Much talent was ready for the senior year. The senior year was a busy one for every- one. but as we look back to all the work on the Annual, the music contest, the operetta. and all the activities, we find that weive really enjoyed our high school career at S.
