CARDINAL BASKETBALL REGIONAL CHAMPIONS The 1982-83 Sabine Cardinals represented the qualities of a true Champion as well as any group l have been associated with. These athletes had a great desire to be a Champion. The desire to win and a desire to prepare to win are important ingredients to being a Champion. Our athletes exemplified the philosophy of the Sabine High School Basketball Program in that they put their lives first and remembered that all their blessings and talents came from the Lord. They realized that their talents were God-given and they were humble. They knew that Fame was man-given and they were thankful, and they real- ized that conceit is self-given and they were careful. We stress with our players that ability may get you to the top, but that it takes character and pride to keep you there. Pride is the strongest motivating force in the world and this group of young men had as much pride as any team l've ever seen. Our team Motto We will pay the Champions price was adhered to by our team and this is the reason they became the Pride of East Texas and a TRUE CHAMPION.
