 5bz W ms an V % fd € Some changes were required in the English department after it was decided to reduce the staff from four to three full-time English teachers. Moving jn to take up some of the slack was science teacher Mr. Herb Brown. Mr. Brown, known for his science teaching but also certified in English, taught two sections of freshman English. Mrs. Gay McClain, a veteran of Sabetha High, also taught two sections of freshman English, as well as three sections of English II. Mrs. McClain is a graduate of Pittsburg State U. guage, Spanish. Mrs. Schmille cracks a joke at the ex pcnsc of Todd Witt. Language Is A Basic Mrs. Schmille, a graduate of Northwest Missouri State, obtained a degree in secondary education. In addition to newspaper, she taught advanced composition, English literature and practical English. In her free time she enjoys entering sweepstakes. So far she has won a cookbook and a set of luggage. Mrs. Finney received a B.S. and a M.S. from the University of Kansas. She began teaching here in 1967. Mrs. Finney taught English I and II and Spanish I, II and III. In her free time she enjoys reading and gardening. Mrs. Finney pauses after a lesson on verbals in junior English Teaching juniors and seniors about English and literature was the primary job of Mrs. Karla Schmille and Mrs. Jennie Finney.
