Throughout the year we had a Teachers Service Project to help out the teachers. We sponsored a sock hop and had a picnic for the members. At the Kayette Karnival we had the concession stand. The Future Farmers of America is an organization of farm boys who are studying vocational agriculture. The activities give the boys a chance to develop leadership, cooperation and prestige. The main purpose is to pro- mote a greater interest in the farming program and other activities related to farming. The activities for the year 1966-1967 were: Leadership School, 3 red Ribbons; FFA-FHA Skating Party; Public Speaking; Valentine Dance; National FFA Week, Exhibit at Hughes; Dairy Contest, First Place; Better Beef Day, First place; Dist. Livestock Contest, Second Place; State Convention; State Farmers, Don Meyer, Daryl Meyer; State Judging Team; FFA Banquet. Kayettes is designed to provide training in leadership that will develop the essential elements of good citizenship for each girl. Through Kayettes the girls learn to work and play together in harmony. Its purpose is to help stu- dents realize potentialities and responsibilities as citizens in a democracy, the satisfaction that comes from par- ticipation on wholesome recreation, and the joy of broadening and deepening their interests through service to their school, their community, and their world. Membership is available to all girls and 97% of the girls in SHS belonged. Activities of the year included: Big and Little Sister Party; Collection for 6 drives; Selling holly, magazines and mums; Christmas Dance; Caroling Party; Twirp Dance; Powderpuff Basketball Game; Heart Sisters; School Clean-up; City Hall Clean-up; Mother-Laughter Banquet; Senior G Faculty Breakfast; Nigeria Relief; Kayette Carnival; Kayette Girl of the 6 weeks; and having Miss Wanda May Vinson as speaker.
