Membership of the Sabetha Chapter of the National Honor Society is based on Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. Some of the purposes of the organization are: to stimulate high scholarship, constructive leadership, purposeful service, and worthy character. Members are chosen by a faculty committee and named when school commences in the fall. Students must have at least a B average to be considered. The main activities of the 1966-67 year were: Jay-Journal , our school paper; a tutoring service; Operation Smarts, competition between classes to encourage students to study more and improve their grades; and a $75 scholarship awarded to a Senior attending a Kansas College or University. The purpose of Student Council is to create a better feeling of cooperation between the students of this school and the faculty; to develop the ideas of self-government; and to give the students an opportunity to express their opinions in matters relating to the general welfare of the school. The membership of the Student Council consists of the presidents and student council representatives from all classes and the presidents of all organizations. All members shall have had and maintain through their tenure, at least a C semester average. Term of office is for one school year. Activities include: Christmas Dance, Pictures, Rocket Propulsion program, Wildlife Program and Vocal Program. Edna McFall. The Sabetha chapter of Future Homemakers of America chose F.H. A. —Stairway to the Future as the theme for the year. We presented the annual all-school Christmas Assembly in December. In March, several delegates and three adults attended the State Meeting in Topeka. The theme for the day was, Growing with F.H. A. Marlene Scarlett was installed as the 1967-68 State Secretary at this meeting. The F.H.A. and F.F.A. co-sponsored the annual Valentines Dance, Love's Mystical Illusion. During the week of April 2-8 we observed National F.H. A. Week. We concluded our year with F.H. A. night which was held in May.
