FOREWORD Within the pages of this 1965 Bluejay, we hope you will find a storehouse of lasting memories. The annual staff has worked hard to preserve the highlights of some of the most unforgettable events. the end of a long four years and the beginning of new and better things. We urge you to refer to this book in the future as a constant reminder of the happiest years of our lives. To the seniors this book marks Dedication Mr. Kerr has proven himself as one of the most outstanding men behind, not only the senior class, but the entire student body of Sabetha High. His many contributions, including both art and a conjenial in- terest in school affairs, have given us reason to give due recognition to him by dedicating this, the 1965 BLUEJAY, to George Kerr. Superintendent's Message Congratulations to the Seniors of 1965. I sincerely hope that the three years spent in Sabetha High have been filled with moments that you will remember and treasure for the rest of your life. You should remember that as you enter the adult world that you will be judged upon the contributions that you make to- ward improving the world in which we live. You are charged not only with the responsibilities of adulthood but with the obligations to live a use- ful and fruitful life. Thank you for your cooperation these past three years. Principal's Message The faculty members and I w i s h to extend our heart felt thanks to the yearbook staff and sponsor for this wonderful edition of The Sabetha Bluejay. As time passes and years fly by—the fond memories of your high school days will be forever etched on these pages and in your minds as the most unforgettable days in your lives. Just as this yearbook is suc- cessful—we hope you remember this advice—the successful man is the one who does what he has to do at the time he hates to do it most. Thus, when the Blue jays lined up in field goal formation on the Wamego 31 with 26 seconds left, most of the opposing Red Raiders figured Schuette would try to break the 21-21 deadlock with a three pointer from the 37. Instead of trying the field goal, the holder, Mike Estle, junior quarterback, took the snap and passed to end Gary Chrisman for the touchdown that won the game 28-21 and gave Sabetha a share of the Big Six League championship. This game was named The Game of the Week in the Capital-Journal. Jim Baldridge, coach of the Bluejays, was the Capital-Journal Coach of the Week for the job he did bringing the team through the tough schedule with an 8-1 record, and coming up with the strategy that brought the final victory. OUTSTANDING ATHLETE Senior Ted Davis received the plaque that is engraved with a new name each year chosen by the S club members as the outstanding senior athlete of the year.
