As the convertible brought the candi- dates-Mary Lou Wenger, Judy Newlin, and Naomi Ireland-onto the field, the crowd waited eagerly to see which was to be queen of the '55 Homecoming festivities. The girls were escorted from the convert- ible by Douglas Metzger, David Robinson, and Dick Rokey. The tense moment ended as Douglas Metzger placed the crown on Queen Naomi Ireland. Aided by the boosting of Queen Naomi, her attendants, the Jay Jays and all the other enthusiastic SHS fans, the Blue Jays defeated the Indians 26-0. This Blue Jay victory added spirit to the evening which was brought to a grand finale with a dance in the gym at which the Combo played.
