 VICTORY AND heartbreak An excellent ground attack, sparked by left halfback Keith Brooks supported by a power driv- ing line led to many T.D.'s for the BlueJays. After a heart- I breaking battle the weary Blue Jays left the gridiron with a ... 13-7 defeat from the Big Five Champs, ‘ the Effingham Tigers. The only defeat handed the Jays in two years was this fateful game at Ef- fingham Nov. 5. A victory string of 16 games plus hope for first place in the Big Five were dropped as the final shot ended a never-to-be-forgotten game. As the seniors leave the football field they have completed a record of seventeen victories to one defeat over a period of two years.
